It is no doubt that Autonomous has made a name in the furniture industry. When it comes to standing desks, they are not left behind. Today we are going to review the Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Home Edition. The Home Edition is sold at a retail price of $299, including shipping costs making it one of the affordable options in the market. Visit https://www.autonomous.ai/standing-desks for more details.

Assembly
The assembling process of the Autonomous Home Edition is quite easy. You can easily attach the upper frame and feet without having issues. The only issue is with the support tube assembly because it cannot be used on desks below 46’’ wide. And due to its design of the support tube and columns, it is not possible to make the frame less than 45.5’’ and still function well.
As with all standing desks that use hex rod, you should insert the hex rod into each leg’s inputs. Failure to do this will make the rod not engage fully with the bevel gear causing the desk not to move. Inserting the hex into the motor is very easy and so will not pause challenges for most people.
Stability
Stability is among the most important traits of a standing desk. Most standing desk users have complained about the stability of their standing desks. However, this is different from Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Home Edition.
When buying a standing desk, make sure that it is stable from the factory because there is no much you can do after production. Considering its price, the stability of this desk is worth it. The adjustability of the SmartDesk 2 Home Edition fully tightens all hardware making it completely tight.
Packaging
The packaging for the Autonomous Home Edition is the same as the one for Business Edition. It is packed well in a single box with cut foam for holding all its components safely in place. When I ordered mine, it had no damages, and due to the way it is packed, there are no chances of having any.
Foot and Upper Frame
The Autonomous Home Edition’s paint is nice and consistent. The manufacturers of this chair did an excellent job with the welds. Its upper frame is well built and is like all other awesome products I have come across. The upper frame is soli, and good paint finishes in all parts.
Column Quality
Just like the upper frame and foot, the columns are well built. They come with consistent paint throughout and has no defects. The Autonomous Home Edition has a square design instead of the common rectangular design. This does not, however, bring much difference in terms of structure.
Pros
- Cheaply priced
- Standard programmable button
- Paint finish and welds are consistent
Cons
- Adjustment speed is low
- Only come with a one-year warranty
Final Thought
If you are looking for a low-cost standing desk, then consider buying Autonomous SmartDesk 2 Home Edition.
