Whether you like it or not, you do need to clean your bathroom every once in a while.
Most people will have a full cleaning at least once a month with smaller tasks done every day and every week.
However, cleaning your bathroom is certainly tedious and can be exhausting, especially if you are not particularly skilled at cleaning.
Fortunately, home cleaning experts at Deluxe Maid are not secretive about their tips and tricks for better cleaning. Here are some tips they gave us on how to clean your bathroom quicker and more easily.
Do You Have Everything You Need
Even before you start cleaning your bathroom, make sure that you have all of the necessary supplies and equipment you will need.
If you don’t have it all, don’t even start cleaning. Not only will you have to start and stop, but you will also lose enthusiasm and your bathroom may end up half cleaned.
You will definitely need a mop and a couple of cloths and a sponge in terms of equipment. When it comes to cleaning supplies, that is really up to you.
Some people prefer not using store-bought products and rely on home-made solutions. Others believe that the cleaning supplies are best when they come from a reputable brand. Whatever your idea is, make sure you have everything you need right from the start.
Make Sure It Is Ventilated
Some cleaning supplies can produce quite strong smells and chemicals which you shouldn’t breathe in for extended periods of time.
That’s why you should make sure that you have proper ventilation in the bathroom before you start. Whether that means turning on your HVAC or opening the doors and windows is entirely up to you.
Start from the Top
Like with most cleaning endeavors, you should start from the top and work your way down. The floor should be the last thing you do.
You can start with your shower and mirrors, particularly if your shower has glass walls. Cleaning similar surfaces at the same time saves a lot of time because you can use one cloth, one cleaning solution and cover a lot of ground in a short time.
The next thing you can do is dust and wipe down any cupboards and storage areas in your bathroom. Don’t be afraid to use water, as they are water-resistant, they are designed for a bathroom after all.
The sink and the toilet should be next in line, as they are both made of ceramics/porcelain. Just make sure that you clean them in that order, sink first. The metal details like your showerhead, faucets, and doorknobs can be disinfected either with rubbing alcohol or a vinegar-water solution to remove any limescale or water stains.
Finally, sweep your floor, again using plenty of water and a good cleaning solution. Using a mop with broad strokes can save you a lot of time.
Be more thorough around the areas which you know are critical, like around your toilet or in front of your shower. Doing something right once is certainly better than cleaning the same thing twice because you did a half-hearted job the first time around, as all good cleaning professionals will tell you.
Wipe Down Everything
Once the cleaning is done, your bathroom might be a bit damp. Don’t leave it like that, it’s an invitation for bacteria and mold to grow in the puddles. Especially the hidden parts of the bathroom are susceptible to the mold and bacteria growth.
Knowing how to clean your bathroom more effectively will not only save you the time but can actually help you become a more effective cleaner and help you keep your bathroom cleaner for longer.
