However, modern-day sins take on a different image. For example, while there’s nothing wrong with caring a great deal about politics, many people look to their favorite politicians in a god-like way. The same can be said about celebrities and musicians.
It’s okay to enjoy these people and the thoughts and feelings they inspire in us. Yet, we must be careful not to make them an idol in our minds.
Excessive Drinking

The short answer is no. After all, Jesus himself turned water into wine.
However, excessive drinking does make it onto our list of sins. You should never drink to the point of intoxication. The lack of self-control while under the influence can lead us down bad paths.
Toxic Emotions
Finally, you may be surprised to learn what counts as a sin in terms of your emotions. Toxic emotions, especially when we act on them, are modern-day sins that can wreak havoc in our lives. These include rage, resentment, lust, jealousy, and even insecurities.
These are on our list of sins because they obstruct the mind. Not only do they influence your actions and behaviors, but they also take your attention away from what really matters. How can you truly worship the Lord if your mind is consumed by anger or jealousy?
