Maruti Celerio X & Maruti Celerio: What has changed?

0

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio X is one of the very few compact crossovers produced by the Indo-Japanese company. It is based on the standard version of the Celerio hatchback and has similar mechanism too.

The standard Maruti Celerio hatchback is known as the first mini car to be equipped with an AMT gearbox. It is one of the most popular choices in the segment and churns out good sales numbers. However, with the Maruti Celerio X launch, the popularity is expected to get divided.

However, the most common question that arises here is: Has anything changed in the Celerio X over the standard model? If yes, what are the changes? This is exactly what we are are going to find out now.

Designing

The Maruti Celerio X is based on the same platform as the Celerio. However, the physical traits are revised to give it more rugged and bumpy look. The front fascia gets a lot of black additions. The front grille gets a completely black treatment including the lower bumper and the foglamps. The soft wheel arches get a strip of black cladding, which is extended all around the lower skirts. The ORVMs are painted in black and so are the roof rails.

However, on the standard Maruti Suzuki Celerio, everything seems to be soft, smooth-flowing and body coloured. Moreover, it does not have roof rails as well.

Interior

Inside the new Maruti Suzuki Celerio X, things look similar. However, considering that it is a more attractive version of the standard hatch. However, the company has decided against the use of the standard black and beige upholstery and has introduced an all-black covers that get attractive geometric shaped printed on them. Moreover, the bright orange piping all across.

Engine

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Celerio X will be carrying the same set of engines as the standard form. This means the same 1.0-litre K10B petrol, three-cylinder engine will be doing its duties under the bonnet. This engine will be capable of producing a maximum power of 67 bhp at 6,000 revs per minute along with a peak torque of 90 Nm at 3,500 revs per minute. The power transmission to the wheels will be done by the same 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT unit.

Summarizing it

The Maruti Suzuki Celerio X is the company’s first attempt at making a mini crossover based on a regular hatchback. The number of changes that are made on the new model is quite high but is restricted to the visuals only. The appearance has been tweaked with and gets the perfect crossover styling. Moreover, the interiors have taken a more attractive shape with the new upholstery and the styling on it.

That said, the new Celerio X will be priced higher than the standard version. But trust me, the extra bucks well worth the car.
